Fan Energy Ratings (FER ) for Packaged Units
New information on the Fan Energy Ratings (FER) for Packaged Units that affect residential furnace fans manufacturered on or after July 03, 2019.
In 2014, the U.S. Department of energy (DOE) published new energy conservation standards for "residential furnace fans". These standards apply to several products including 5-ton and less, single-phase packaged gas/electric and dual-fuel units. This regulation creates a new metric for fan energy called Fan Energy Rating (FER). For any "residential furnace fan" manufactured on or after July 03, 2019, FER must be certified with the DOE and cannot exceed certain values.
Daikin North America LLC is pleased to announce that all current residential Daikin packaged gas/electric and dual-fuel units (Daikin DP series models DP14DM, DP16GM, and DP14GM) have been tested and confirmed to meet the FER requirements. Thus, there will be no packaged unit product changes as a result of FER.
