Daikin One+ Smart Thermostat for Single and Multi-Zone Systems and OTA Software Update

Daikin North America LLC is pleased to announce Daikin One+ smart thermostat support for S21 single and multi-zone systems via an over-the-air (OTA) software update (v2.0.2) and the release of a new translation adaptor.  The Daikin One+ smart thermostat and an associated translation adaptor are available in a bundled package (DTST-ONE-ADA-A) and replace the now obsoleted ENVi thermostat.  A Daikin One home mobile app update (v2.0) will also be available to support the new thermostat software.  
 
This same Daikin One+ smart thermostat with translation adaptor bundle (DTST-ONE-ADA-A), along with a future OTA update to be announced later, will make it compatible with VRV P1P2 systems as well.   
 
The new translation adaptor has been designed for maximum installation flexibility, including ambient temperature capability of up to 150°F for installation in unconditioned spaces, and support for line voltages of 110V to 240V for drawing power from the indoor unit or another convenient power source.  It is small enough to fit inside the piping chase of our smallest capacity wall-mounted indoor units so that it is virtually invisible to the homeowner. 

The single and multi-zone indoor unit models listed below use the S21 communication protocol and are supported by this Daikin One+ smart thermostat bundle with the associated software release.  Note that the handheld remote that comes with the indoor unit should not be used together with the Daikin One+ smart thermostat. 

Customers who have already purchased a previous Daikin One+ smart thermostat (DTST-CWBSA-NI-A) can still use this thermostat for single and multi-zone systems by connecting the thermostat to Wi-Fi to receive the v2.0.2 software update, and then order a translation adaptor separately (DAPT-ONE-VMS).   
 
The separately purchased translation adaptor is intended for new multi-family projects currently under construction where the Daikin One+ smart thermostat has already been purchased. However, we suggest purchasing the new Daikin One+ smart thermostat with translation adaptor bundle  (DTST-ONE-ADA-A) to assure you have everything you need, in one package, for a streamlined installation experience.  
 
In addition to adding support for single and multi-zone systems, the v2.0.2 software release also includes the following:

• Set-up screens for OCST (Title 24, JA5) compliance and future integration with utility demand response programs through cloud connections • Simplified access to the dealer setup menus
• “Equipment Type” selection screen inserted at the front of installer wizard, with “unitary” as the default and a new “single/multi-split (S21)” option for single and multi-zone systems
• Reordering of the main commissioning steps with the more commonly used “Communication” step first and the “Personalization” step second

The Daikin One+ smart thermostat provides a common interface for unitary and single and multi-zone systems. The thermostat features integrated temperature control and a dehumidification algorithm, making it a premium indoor air environment solution.  The five-step dealer commissioning process introduces improved workflow and is standardized for both unitary and single and multi-zone products to simplify the process for contractors.   
 
An integrated Wi-Fi feature connected to the internet enables OTA software updates.  Connecting the Daikin One+ smart thermostat to the Wi-Fi also provides several user features including remote monitoring, control and geofencing using the Daikin One home app, Google, and Amazon voice assistants, all now available for your ductless customers.

Product Support and Availability  Training materials and documentation have been developed and will be available as shown in the table below. These assets will be beneficial for contractors when explaining the Daikin One+ smart thermostat with ductless capability to customers. A webinar for Daikin sales staff has already been held and additional training for distributors will be scheduled to provide detailed information about functionality, installation, and operational capabilities.  
 
We will start accepting orders on July 20, 2020 and shipments will begin on July 31, 2020.
