Best Practices for Interacting with Daikin Social Media

Written by Air Intelligence on Tuesday August 20, 2019

The purpose of this communication is to help you understand the purpose of, and how to interact with, our different social media platforms. Each of our social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and LinkedIn) targets a different audience and each hosts different content. We want to interact with each of you and ensure everyone is up-to-date on all the exciting, recent social media initiatives. Below, we detail each of our social media platforms and describe the best way to interact with each page, our intended audience, content types, and helpful information on how you can stay updated on or posts or why we may be unable to interact with you. Read on to learn more!

Facebook

First, you'll want to Like and Follow our page here. You will find "Like" and "Follow" buttons just below our main cover picture on our profile page. The best way to connect with us is by interacting with our posts! You can do this in several ways such as Liking, Sharing, or Commenting on our posts.

Our primary target on Facebook is homeowners and our secondary is to connect with our distribution, reps, and contractors. The majority of content you'll find on our Facebook is product-focused, educational, promoting our online dealer locator, as well as company initiatives/awards and branded content.

You, nor anyone other than the page moderators can post anything to our Facebook page. However, if you'd like to share something from your personal or business page, please Tag us at Daikin Air Intelligence. To tag a company page, start by using the "@" symbol and start typing the name of the company until you see it pop up, then select it. Once you select it, the "@" will go away and the company name will be highlighted in light blue.

Tagging our page is the best way to notify us, as almost all social media management systems cannot pickup hashtag usage on Facebook. While we will receive a notification that you mentioned us in your post, we may or may not be able to interact with your post due to your personal privacy settings.

Updating your Facebook privacy settings:
1. Visit Settings
2. Click Public Posts on the left
3. Go to Who Can Follow Me and make sure Public is selected
4. Click Edit next to Public Posts Comments
5. Select who is allowed to like or comment on your public posts:
a. Public: Includes everyone, even people not following you  (this option includes Daikin Air Intelligence)
b. Friends (+ friends of anyone tagged): Includes your friends on Facebook. If anyone else is tagged in a post, then the audience expands to also include the tagged person and their friends.
c. Friends of Friends: Includes all of your friends and any friends that they may have

Instagram

Our company Instagram page is @Daikin_Air_Intelligence. Note that the Instagram platform is designed to be used primarily with handheld phones or tablets. To ensure you see all of our posts, videos, and Instagram stories, be sure to Follow us. Even further, you can turn on Post Notifications. Turning on Post Notifications will notify you whenever we have uploaded a new post. To turn on Post Notifications view the instructions below.

Turning on Instagram Post Notifications:
1. Visit our Instagram page
2. Click on any of our posts
3. In the top right corner, you'll find three dots (...) Click the dots.
4. After clicking the dots, a few options will appear
5. The last option, Turn On Post Notifications, will show
6. Click on Turn On Post Notifications
7. Done! You'll now be notified through the Instagram app that we've uploaded a new post

Instagram is different than other social media platforms due to the audience that interacts with our page - contractors, employees, homeowners, etc. Therefore, we want to ensure that we are creating and directing content for each group. You'll find that the content on our Instagram page is product-focused, educational, branded, and offers a lot of interactive elements like IGTV (long-form videos) or Instagram Stories (short, 24 hour videos or images).

The best ways to interact with us on Instagram is by Liking and Commenting on our posts. If you post Daikin-related content on your own page, be sure to Tag our company page and use our recommended Hashtags, which you can find at the end of this article.

YouTube

Our company YouTube channel is @DaikinComfort. To follow our YouTube videos, you can Subscribe to our channel. By subscribing, you'll be notified through YouTube about when we post videos. You can Share our YouTube videos through your own various social media posts - just be sure to Tag us in those social posts. You'll find an array of videos ranging from our Comfort Clips, which highlight real-life VRV applications, product videos, DCP Award videos, and more!

LinkedIn

Find us on LinkedIn by searching Daikin North America or by clicking here. Our LinkedIn posts target our professional audience ranging from our distribution, reps, and contractors to industry and organizational colleagues. Our LinkedIn content focuses on products, the Daikin brand, articles from industry publications, and product applications. The best way to connect with us is to Follow us on LinkedIn as well as Like, Share, and Comment on our posts. If you share any Daikin-related content, please Mention us in your post or Tag us in your photos.

Recommended Hashtag Usage

Chris Messina invented, but never copyrighted the hashtag in 2007. Hashtag was added to the Oxford English Dictionary in 2014.

You can use hashtags on various social media platforms. However, the best practice is to utilize hashtags on Instagram or Twitter. The hashtags listed below are recommended for Daikin-related use. We recommend not using more than 10 hashtags on a post. If you use more, social channels may mark your content or comment as spam. Note that special characters such as: !, +, &, %, etc. will not work in a hashtag.
